Indian carp or locally known as Catla is one of the most consumed freshwater fish species in India. Found in the lakes of North India and Assam and are also commercially grown in freshwater ponds. With a bony body, sweet taste, smooth texture, and a fatty flavorful head makes it perfect for Bengali curries/stews and can be fried too.
