• Bombay Duck or Bombil as known in Maharashtra is one of the popular fish, native to the waters of Maharashtra and are also found in small numbers in the Bay of Bengal. Do not get confused by its name, it’s not a duck but a fish that get its ironic name from the train Bombay Mail, mail also known as ‘Dak’ in Hindi. This slimy, pink-skinned fish has a strong flavor, salty taste, meaty flesh, soft texture and tastes excellent when rawa fried and can be used in a curry, chutneys and ‘Stuffed Bombil’ is one of Mumbai’s favourite seafood dish.
